What’s NXT?

The Nick Xenophon Team (NXT) is all about politics, done differently.

There is a strong need for a political entity that provides a sensible alternative for voters and which is not biased towards the left or right of politics. For Nick, politics has never been about left or right, it has always been about right or wrong. NXT will bring together a team of like-minded people and support their candidacies in state and federal elections Australia-wide.

Nick Xenophon

Nick Xenophon is the founder and leader of NXT. Nick first entered parliament in 1997, when he was elected to the South Australian Legislative Council as an independent on a no-pokies platform. He ran for and was elected to the Australian Senate in 2007 and was re-elected to the Senate in the September 2013 federal election.

Nick is a passionate advocate and watchdog for South Australia’s interests and has pushed for many reforms that benefit not only South Australians, but all Australians – including pokies, water, food labelling, manufacturing, education and healthcare.

Principal Aims of NXT

  • To be a fearless advocate and watchdog for all Australians
  • To look after the national interest, not vested interests
  • To stand up for those who feel they have no voice
  • To represent the common-sense middle political ground

Elected Members

NXT currently has two elected members – Nick Xenophon and John Darley. NXT will be fielding candidates across most states at the next federal election.
