RAJ REPORT

Comment of the Day on MOGC speed limit———–I have been driving to work in Cairns from the Northern Beaches for 17 years. During this time I have experienced a significant increase in traffic commuting from the northern beaches but very minor upgrades to the road infrastructure to accommodate the increase in traffic. Traffic flows well past the primary school. The traffic banks up and comes to a stand still from the airport to as far back as Holloways Beach due to the merging of the Aeroglen- Stratford Road (Stratford Connection Road) and the Captain Cook Highway. It has nothing to do with the speed limit in front of the school.

I have been driving to work in Cairns from the Northern Beaches for 17 years. Think about it for a minute… The traffic lights turn red, the traffic on the Captain Cook Highway stops, the traffic from the Stratford Connection Road pulls onto the Captain Cook Highway/Sheridan Street. Volume of traffic on the highway increases. A pedestrian overpass will take away the need for the pedestrian crossing but it won’t take away the delays caused by the merging of traffic from the Stratford Connection Road onto the Captain Cook Highway.
