THE most popular events at the 2015 Cairns Eisteddfod have attracted capacity crowds.

Almost 500 people jammed into the Cairns & District Eisteddfod Hall over the weekend to watch the best classical young dancers the Far North has to offer.

Eisteddfod organiser Raj Patel said the event in its 60th year was as popular as ever.

“Dance is one of the biggest parts of the Eisteddfod,” he said. “It’s amazing how much of the community is involved in dancing.”

More than 200 performers sashayed and pirouetted across the stage, dazzling audiences with their amazing talent.

“On Sunday morning we had the young kids from about eight years old doing classical dance,” Mr Patel said.

“It was great to see young kids starting out in dancing.”

This weekend marks the final events of this year’s Eisteddfod and will host the modern dance and ballet sections of the competition.

“We’ve been getting very good crowds and it’s been going very well,” Mr Patel said.
