Sitting in her sparsely decorated new office on level 12 of the Executive Building, Ms Trad – who replaced former premier Anna Bligh in the South Brisbane electorate just after the landslide 2012 election defeat – said Queenslanders were willing to have a “mature conversation” about the prospect of increased borrowing to build new infrastructure.

“I think what Queenslanders are open to is a mature conversation about debt, paying down that debt without selling assets,” she said.
