THE $130 million GST windfall coming Tasmania’s way will be spent on “job-creating infrastructure”, says the State Government.
The State Budget will be delivered two weeks from today and the State Government has an extra $130 million up its sleeve in 2015-16 thanks to the GST distribution confirmed in the Federal Budget.
Treasurer Peter Gutwein said the Liberals wanted to get maximum value from the extra money.
“We will spend this money wisely, we will ensure that it is invested into job-creating infrastructure where the value is going to be felt long after the money is spent,” he said.
Mr Gutwein said investment would flow to the state’s North and North West, where the economy was not recovering as quickly as in the South,
