How will the treasurer pay down DEBT with less electricity dividends—-AER decision to hit Qld’s bottom line | afr.com—————Opposition energy spokesman Andrew Powell said the AER determination would blow a hole in Labor’s plans to pay down debt in the July budget. “The centrepiece of Annastacia Palaszczuk’s election campaign was to use profits from energy businesses to pay down debt and today’s decision will mean money isn’t there,” Mr Power said. “This throws into question how they will manager to pay down debt without hurting Queenslanders.”

  1. Hi Raj, The debt is 80 billion with a B, the interest bill is 470,000 an hour. 100 million is only one 80th of the debt per year. To pay the debt off at that rate our great grandchildren will be dead by the time it is repaid. The ALP debt repayment promise was only a sup to the bogans who either did not care about the debt or get the media off their back. The left wing media did not ask many questions but criticized the LNP means of doing so. The ALP had little or no intention to repay debt and lied and got away with it because all the main media in QLD is of the left.
