That figure officially makes Mr Key the most popular leader in the Western world. But the 53-year-old ex-banker is no longer just basking in the admiration of his fellow Kiwis.

On this side of the world, many British commentators are now backing his radical tax ideas as a blueprint that David Cameron might follow
